Chronobiology/Sleep Initiative

The Chronobiology and Sleep Institute (CSI) seeks to support research initiatives that expand the scope of investigation in the areas of circadian rhythms and sleep. We are particularly interested in innovative projects that use cross-disciplinary approaches and have the potential to provide technological or conceptual breakthroughs. Large collaborative projects may request up to $100k per year, not including faculty salary. Smaller projects will also be considered, with budgets scaled appropriately. A second year of funding will be contingent upon demonstrated progress the first year. Awardees will present their projects at research meetings of the CSI.

Applications should include a research proposal of no more than 3 pages, an NIH biosketch for each participating PI, and a detailed budget with justification. Please send applications to Jackie Fowlkes (jfowlkes [at] by March 15th. Anticipated start date for funding is June 1, 2020.
